Prayer Guideline Tips
This section is NOT a “How To Pray” tutorial. Think of it more as a quick reference section in case you get stuck or don’t know how to pray for someone. It might even come in handy to help you mix things up a little bit after you’ve been posting prayers for a while.
Well, I suppose it needs to be said that JHOPDC is a Christian group seeking to mobilize prayer to the God described in the Holy Bible. If you regularly pray to someone else, then JHOPDC is probably not what you’re looking for. All prayers are to be addressed to or directed to “God”, “Jesus’ or the “Holy Spirit.” “Lord”, “Father”, “Abba” and other derivatives work as well.
Please understand and respect that this is a Christian community-based social network that incorporates many different points of view and voices. Please don’t come to this site with the attitude that everyone else’s prayers are inferior but your prayer is “the one that really counts.” The real strength of the community comes from everyone ADDING their prayers to all the others. Let’s believe in faith that the accumulation of our steady prayers will produce fruit in our government in the form of righteousness and justice.
Click through the following categories to see some written examples of scriptural ways you can pray for our leaders. This list is by no means complete, but it sure is a good start. Feel free to use any of these, but we strongly encourage you to express your own.

- Lord I pray for [Name] and [his/her] family. I plead your precious blood over them. Keep them safe.
- Lord, guard [Name]’s mind from the influence and council of the wicked.
- Father I pray that You would put your protection around [Name] and [his/her] family.
- God, I pray for healing for [Name]. Raise up a testimony for yourself in [his/her] life.
- Deliver [Name] from evil today.

- Lord encourage [Name]’s heart. Keep [him/her] from discouragement and bitterness in hard times.
- God, send Christians to [Name] as an encouragement to [him/her]. Strengthen [him/her] with your Word.
- Lord, you know exactly what [Name] needs today. I pray for divine appointments!

- Father I pray that you would give to [Name] the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You.
- God, soften [Name]'s heart and cause [him/her]’s ear to incline to wisdom.
- Lord, give [Name] divine wisdom, understanding and insight to guide the nation according to your will.
- Lord I ask that you would give [him/her] wisdom from Heaven.
- Open [his/her] eyes to see your ways and know your truth.
- Holy God, you say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. May [Name] learn to fear you and love your Word.
- Father, you guide and govern everything with order and love. Guide [Name] with kindness and fill [him/her] with the spirit of your wisdom.
- Father God, I pray that [Name] would honor and please you at all times. May [he/she] secure peace and freedom for the people entrusted to [him/her].
- Father, I pray that [Name] would fully rely on you, and I ask you to give [him/her] wisdom to make decisions that would strengthen and prosper our nation.
- Lord I pray that [Name] would delight in your law and would meditate on it day and night.
- Lord Jesus, let [Name] be wise and be warned. Let [him/her] acknowledge you.
- May [he/she] walk in the fear of you!
- Lord, make [Name] wise according to Ps 2:10-12.

- Father I pray that You would reveal yourself to [Name] in a new way and draw [him/her] closer to you.
- I pray that [Name] would be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ.
- Father I pray that [Name] would hear and follow your voice.
- God, help [Name] to love you with all [his/her] heart and with all [his/her] soul and with all [his/her] strength and with all [his/her] mind. Amen.
- Jesus, all power in heaven and on earth is yours. All authority comes from you. Bless [Name] with an understanding of this truth.
- God, please break in and shake the heart of [Name]. Shake off confusion and break in with light!
- Jesus, I plead that your precious blood would cover congress and [Name] even today turning hearts to righteousness.
- God, we long to live in a nation that acknowledges You. Encounter [Name] so that [he/she] may know your heart for America.
- Open the eyes of [Name]'s heart so that [he/she] may know you Father.
- Strengthen [Name] in [his/her] heart with all might by your Holy Spirit.
- Holy Spirit come and bring forth your fruit in [Name]’s life.
- Jesus, you are the Judge of all men. May [Name] be found fully committed to you.
- God, I ask that you would come to [Name] during the night in dreams. Show [him/her] that You are the one true King.
- Jesus, give [him/her] a heart of worship that [he/she] would love to fellowship with You.
- God I ask that you would meet [him/her] in the secret place and reveal your love. Cause [him/her] to know the great mandate and assignment that you have given [him/her].
- Lord, I ask you to encounter [Name] with dreams and visions. Would you melt [his/her] heart in your love.

- God give [Name] a true longing for your justice. Let [him/her] experience your compassion and guide [him/her] in truth. Amen.
- Create in [Name] a burning hunger and thirst for righteousness and your word O Lord.
- Guide [Name]’s heart and cause him to make decisions that will promote Godliness.
- Father, you give life and form the child in the womb. Cause [Name] to stand unwaveringly for life and justice for the unborn.
- Lord, make [Name] a voice for the voiceless. Give [him/her] courage to speak out against abortion and be resolute in [his/her] stand.
- God I pray that [Name] would maintain righteousness and justice according to your Word.
- Give [him/her] greater revelation of your righteousness and justice.

- I pray that [Name] would know your presence empowering [him/her] with boldness to be a voice for truth in the House/Senate.
- I pray that [he/she] would be loyal to you and your Word.
- Make [Name] bold and very courageous as [he/she] stands for your truth in office.
- God, I pray for boldness, influence and favor for [Name] as [he/she] stands for truth.
- Strengthen [him/her] with power to stand for what is right against all political pressure. I ask that [he/she] would be unwavering and courageous.

- I pray that [Name] would have clear opportunity today to humble [himself/herself] before you. In your great mercy deal compassionately with [him/her].

- Lord, give [Name] a spirit of adoption. Give [him/her] grace to stand for the unborn.
- Lord I pray that [Name] would take a stand against abortion and support [Amendment/Bill/Resolution].
- God you created marriage between a man and a woman. I pray that you would speak to [Name] to support [Amendment/Bill/Resolution].
- God you hold the king’s heart in your hand and turn it however you please. Turn [Name]’s heart concerning abortion.
- God I pray that [Name]’s heart would begin to break for the unborn!
- Jesus give [Name] a dream about the ending of abortion. Change [his/her] heart Lord!
